Neural Reset Therapy®
Neural Reset Therapy® is a highly effective way to release trigger points, soften hard muscles, and lengthen tight ones. It was created by Lawrence Woods, the owner of this website. NRT is currently being taught in many states across the USA by a team of instructors personally taught by him. You may observe some videos of Lawrence demonstrating the power and effectiveness of NRT by going to: www.neuralreset.net.
NRT allows the therapist to rapidly release muscle tension without any poking, prodding, or pressure on the body. It is done without oils and without removing any clothing. NRT is safe and effective, even for the disabled, the elderly, pregnant clients, and children. NRT often produces miraculous results in chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LDT can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
Lawrence has personally studied with Dr. Bruno Chikly. Originally from France. Dr. Chikly created his unique method of LDT in which the therapist is trained to how to feel the flow of lymph, unlike any other course of instruction in this therapy. This allows LDT to be even more effective than usual. Lawrence took all of the basic level courses.
Frequency Specific Microcurrent
FSM has been taught for more than 20 years by Dr. Carolyn McMakin. Research has shown that using tiny amounts of electricity at the same level that the body uses in certain frequency sets can cause changes in inflammation levels and can accelerate healing. This is not TENS therapy which only blocks pain. FSM is used by most NFL teams and more than 400 professional athletes. It is also used in pain management centers and at the Cleveland Clinic. You may find more information about FSM on their website: frequencyspecific.com. They also have a YouTube channel demonstrating the use of this therapy.
Neuromuscular Therapy (St. John Method)
Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins. NMT was expanded and made even more effective by the American master, Paul St. John. Lawrence personally studied with him, completed all nine courses, and was certified at the highest level in 1997.
Myofascial Release (John Barnes method)
Myofascial release therapy is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing the range of motion. Myofascial Release differs from other types of massage therapy in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, Myofascial Release focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important system. Lawrence studied directly with the master of Myofascial Release, John Barnes, PT. He completed nine courses of study with this teacher.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland and later by Dr. Upledger, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience. Lawrence was certified by the Upledger Institute in 1998 after passing a series of exams and serving an internship at the Upledger Institute in Florida.
Developed in the former Soviet Union, Russian Massage is considered to be one of the most non-invasive and relaxing forms of massage therapy. Combining aspects of both therapeutic and sports massage, it uses a variety of specific techniques to release stress and enhance circulation. As with all forms of massage therapy, open communication during the session is encouraged to make sure you are enjoying the experience as much as possible. Lawrence uses a variety of the mobilization techniques taught to him several decades ago by a retired Russian medical doctor, Dr. David Gurevich. These techniques gently increase the range of motion for joints.
Dr. Ben Benjamin advanced work
Lawrence completed a series of trainings over a two-year period to assess and treat joint pain caused by damaged ligaments and tendons. Each joint is tested manually to evaluate for any restrictions and possible causes of joint pain. For joints that are too extensively damaged, he refers his clients to a qualified medical doctor for further analysis and treatment.
Active Isolated Stretching
Developed by Aaron Mattes, Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a dynamic system for improving your flexibility and overall well-being. As you probably already know, stretching your muscles not only reduces your chance of injury, but also strengthens your tendons and improves your circulation. After learning this system, Lawrence created a series of videotapes more than 20 years ago to help his clients to do self-help at home.
PUSH was derived from a treatment process developed by an Asian martial arts school. The therapist uses the flat of their forearm and a few tools to eliminate trigger points and tight areas in muscles. This therapy addresses the major muscles of the whole body in one session and is done with the client dressed. No oils are utilized. Unfortunately, the originator of the work retired from teaching after only a few years. Lawrence was fortunate to learn from this master during that time.
Cupping and GuaSha
These two well-tested practices have been performed in Europe and Asia for thousands of years. They may be utilized for small areas or over much larger areas. Lawrence uses the modern tissue-conforming silicone cups to create the suction necessary for each area. GuaSha incorporates the use of scraping utensils to increase circulation in areas that have become stagnant or incompletely healed after trauma. Lawrence usually includes lymphatic drainage after these therapies to improve the flow of the lymph.
Lawrence has been trained in many therapies too numerous to list. Portions of those treatment approaches may be utilized to address the particular needs of each client.
Red & Near-Infrared LED Therapy
Lawrence uses LED lamps imported from Europe to reduce inflammation processes found in the skin and deep in the muscles and connective tissue around joints. There are thousands of research reports in the scientific literature validating the use of these therapies. It requires only brief applications so it is usually incorporated only as a small portion of a treatment session.
